Well I've
had a few ups and downs with my health in 2006. I developed
a bit of heart trouble early in November (it must have been
brewing for quite a while) and I was unable to walk very far.
My treatment seems to be helping now and the walk on Saturday
30 December with my friends was designed to be easy and allow
me to drop out if necessary, but things were OK and we had a
very enjoyable day in the winter sunshine just ahead of the
next band of rain.
Happy new year for 2007! Frank

Today I repeated the walk I did on 1 March
this year from Grassington to Conistone and Malham Moor returning
via the footbridge over the weir at Treshfield, a total of 17.5km.
I'm hoping that this is the breakthrough and my walking is back
to normal after the setback of this summer.

Well,
I had my little operation on 27 June so now it's just a matter
of recouperation and getting a bit fitter after not walking for
almost two months. The next few routes will be quite short but
I hope to be back to normal again before long. Frank

May
2006 I'm adding this interesting tit-bit to pass the time whilst
I'm unable to go walking.
Counting
Sheep -
this may sound like a subject to put you to sleep,
but I think it's quite interesting.

A medical disaster has sneaked up and overtaken me! After all
that fabulous walking last week and a wedding party on Saturday
I ended up in the emergency department of our local hospital in
the early hours of Sunday morning. Nothing too serious but it's
left me waiting (probably for several months) for an operation.
In the meantime my abillity to walk outdoors is severely limited
so I'm not sure when I'll be able to report another route. I'm
going to try to add some notes of things I hope will be of interest,
for something to do whilst I'm stuck inside and also to keep something
going in my walking diary.Regards Frank

Happy
New Year for 2006! As usual in the winter my walking is having
to take second place to my hedgelaying. My two friends and I (yes
we are very much like the "Last of the Summer Wine")
Well we're working on a hedge laying project in a little conservation
area on Flamborough Head. We only do one day a week but we hope
to have it finished before the end of March.
