Husthwaite to Coxwold via Beacon Banks
Hambleton Hills

Coxwold
seen from Beacon Banks
This
morning was warm and bright, just right for a walk but both my
friend and I had things to do this afternoon so we opted for a
very pleasant two hour local walk. We drove the few miles to the
village of Husthwaite to start our walk. We set off from map ref.
SE 522749 following the path along Beacon Banks. This little ridge
gives a good view over to the Kilburn white horse. We continued
to the muddy lane at High Leys farm and took the path from the
farm across the fields to the road just before Coxwold, map ref.
SE 533767. It's a pretty village with wide green verges. We left
the village on the path that begins at map ref. SE 532772 and
followed it across the fields to the road near Angram Hall (a
poultry farm) at map ref. SE 514761. We walked along the road
for a few hundred metres and took the path up the hill from map
ref. SE 518756 back to the village. The walk had been about 7km
and took us just over two hours including a short stop for a cup
of tea in Coxwold.
