My neighbour, Jim, and I had negotiated a 3 day pass from our respective wives and had booked two nights at the Fat Lamb Inn near Ravenstonedale on the edge of the Howgill Fells. We had planned three good walks but I was a bit unsure as to how my dodgy knee would like three days walking on the trot. (That means 3 consecutive days if you're not familiar with colloquial English)
