Path through Hazel Head Wood
They followed the path through Hazel Head Wood to come out on to the
moor at map ref.SE530936 just above the ruined chapel. They followed
the path across the moor and dropped down to the watercourse called
Blow Gill. They crossed the stream and walked up to the road at map
ref. SE527938.
|
Today my wife and I were driving back home from our holiday at Inveraray
in Argyll so we missed our regular walk with a group of friends. The
rest of the group did a pleasant walk in the autumn sunshine around
Snilesworth about halfway between Hawnby and Osmotherley. They all met
at the picnic area above Ellers Wood at map ref. SE529928.

to map ref. SE514950.
|
They walked along the road for almost 200m and turned off to the right
to follow a farm access road along Cow Ridge for about 3km to Head House
at map ref. SE534971.

Footpath dropping down to the River Rye
Then there was about 300m along the road to the starting point at the
picnic area. The whole route had been 13km and had taken a about four
and a half hours to walk including their stops. A perfect autumn day
for a walk through some very pretty countryside.
|
Here they turned left and crossed the River Rye again at map ref. SE529922.
Here they were back in Hazel Head Wood and they followed the path up
to the road at Map ref. SE531926.
