I realised that I had left the camera at home on the hall table so all of today's photos were taken on the mobile phone in rather dull conditions. For the walk we all drove to a car park just off the A659 at the road to East Keswick, map ref. SE362453. (There are no public toilets on this route.) From the car park we crossed the main road (A659) and followed the path down between the fields to a bridge over the River Wharfe at map ref. SE364460.

Today my wife and drove over to a friends house in Wetherby. They were going to lead us on a short walk locally and then we were all going back to their house for a barbeque. The weather forecast was awful with heavy rain expected more or less all day. It was very wet as we set off from our home but by the time we reached Wetherby it was fine but very cloudy with threatening shower clouds.

At this junction we turned left and followed the track across the field for about 400m to a lane at map ref. SE361467.

We crossed the bridge and continued up a farm track to another track at map ref. SE365467, coming from the Wood Hall Hotel on our right.

After about 300m we turned left along a path leading us out to the road at map ref. SE357483 on the edge of Sicklinghall.

We turned right to walk along the lane for just over 1km to map ref. SE354476 where we turned right off the road to follow a path across the fields.

At this junction there was a large island of land in the middle of the junction surrounded by a stone wall. Within the wall was a lovely neat vegetable garden full of healthy looking produce which we all stopped to admire for a few moments.

Here we turned right following the road past the village pond and into the village. Just beyond a church in the village we turned right at a road junction at map ref. SE362484.

We returned to our friends house in Wetherby where despite to late afternoon rain we had our barbeques although we did eat it in the conservatory with the door open.

At this junction we turned left to retrace our steps down to the River Wharfe and back up to the car park where we had started. The whole walk had been about 8km and it had taken us almost three hours to walk including our stops.
