General Directions (see markers on the route map)

Marker 1.) Start at the car park at Low Mills in Farndale, map ref. SE672952. Take the pedestrian gate from the car park opposite the public toilets and follow the path down to the River Dove. Cross the footbridge over the river and follow the 'daffodil walk' upstream for about 2km to a small group of buildings that includes the 'Daffy Cafe' on the right at map ref. SE668970.

Marker 2.) Just beyond the 'Daffy Cafe' at map ref. SE668970, turn off the road to cross a stile and follow the public footpath across the fields, across the river and up the valley side to a road along the western side of the valley. At the road turn right and follow the road to Monket House at map ref. SE660972. Opposite Monket House turn left off the road to climb up the steep hillside on a rough track for about 2km to a crossroads at map ref.SE640974 on Rudland Rigg.

Marker 3.) At this crossroads (or is it crosstracks?) turn left and walk along Rudland Rigg for about 4km to map ref. SE657934. Here turn left along a side track, bearing right after about 700m following the fence on the right of the track to a public footpath at map ref. SE669935.

Marker 4.) Here (map ref. SE669935) turn left to follow the public footpath for about 300m across the moor and then with a good view across Farndale follow the path down the valley side past an old quarry and down to some woodland at map ref. SE665946. Here the path turns right to go through the woodland, across a field and down to an access road. Continue across the access road, through a small paddock and the garden of a cottage to the road at map ref. SE669948. Follow the road down the hillside back to Low Mill and the end of the walk.
